Yellowstone's Child

Charles Liebert

The central issue of Yellowstone's Child is personal identity, or how one responds to the query, "Who am I?The narrative starts when Mississippian chicken farmers Sam and Gloria Graham lose their 10-year-old daughter Sally to brain cancer. They intend to sell their farm in Mississippi and go to Nebraska upon her passing. Before selling, they take a little trip to Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park in February to help them get over the loss of their daughter Sally. Simultaneously, three cousins attending the Johanson family reunion in Yellowstone tumble into a river that is partly nourished by hot springs. Sarah, the third, strikes her head and drifts away downstream on her back while the other two escape immediately.
